2026 Moore Learning Conference
Friday August 21, 2026 10:30am - 11:20am EDT
Limited Capacity seats available
Every click, tap, and location ping leaves a trail, but do our students know who is following it? Move beyond basic password safety to equip middle and high school students with true data literacy. In this eye-opening session, we will explore what data students actively and passively put out into the world, uncovering the common—and highly unexpected—ways their information is harvested (from device sensors and background tracking to social media scraping). You will learn how corporations, data brokers, and algorithms use this information to profile student behavior and curate their digital realities. Using trusted, secondary-aligned resources, you will walk away with practical, engaging strategies to help students critically analyze their data privacy, reclaim their digital agency, and build the real-world literacy required to thrive in a data-driven society.

Digital Integration Facilitator, Moore County Schools
I'm a Digital Integration Facilitator (DIF) who loves to use humor while teaching kids. Moore County Schools has been nice enough to allow me to be employed as a DIF to pair STEM activities with the elementary/middle school disciplines.
